TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his son, IT minister KT Rama Rao seem to have not recovered from the shocking defeat of their daughter and sister Kalvakuntla Kavitha in Nizamabad Lok Sabha election in May 2019, even after an year.
KCR and KTR have fielded Kavitha for upcoming MLC elections in Nizamabad district for local bodies seat.
Only the elected representatives of local bodies like MPTCs, ZPTCs, sarpanches, ward members, councillors etc are allowed to vote in these MLC elections.
There are total 824 voters in this election. Of them, over 600 belong to TRS alone as TRS has swept elections in Nizamabad held for Municipal corporation, municipalities, zilla parishads, mandal parishads, gram panchayats etc.
The Opposition Congress, BJP put together have just about 200 votes. Both these parties are contesting the election, which would mean that even these 200 votes will be split between BJP and Congress candidates.
Going by these numbers, Kavitha's grand victory is imminent. Despite this, KCR and KTR have launched 'operation akarsh' to admit BJP and Congress local representatives into TRS.
Several BJP corporators in Nizamabad municipal corporation already joined TRS. Several other MPTCs, ZPTCs, sarpanches, ward members, councillors of Congress, BJP are making a beeline to join TRS.
People are wondered looking at these defections into TRS and questioning why KCR and KTR are resorting to this unethical acts and making mockery of democracy even when Kavitha's victory is certain.
People also view this as 'fear factor' of KCR and KTR, who still feel the pain of Kavitha's defeat in Lok Sabha election and don't want to take any chances despite TRS having required majority of its own and encouraging defections in opposition parties.
