Why Kavitha's victory is imminent in NZB MLC Poll?

The Election Commission of India on September 25, 2020 issued the schedule for Nizamabad Local Authorities MLC election. In this election, only elected representatives of local bodies (gram panchayats, zilla parishads, mandal parishads, municipalities and municipal corporations) are eligible to vote.

With TRS sweeping all these local bodies elections held in 2019, it has a clear majority over other parties and majority of the elected representatives belong to TRS.

Below table clearly shows how TRS enjoys a resounding majority in local bodies. The strength of various parties can be seen below:

TRS: 494

Cong: 140

BJP: 84

Independents: 66

AIMIM: 28

Others: 12

Total votes: 824

TRS to get votes in MLC poll: 600-plus votes (With the support of Independents, AIMIM and others besides cross voting from few Congress and BJP members, who are extending support to Kavitha)

Cong likely to get : 120 to 130 votes

BJP likely to get: 64 to 74 votes

The polling will be held on October 9, 2020 and the counting of votes will take place on October 12, 2020.

The parties strength in local bodies clearly shows that the victory of TRS candidate Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the daughter of TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is imminent.

Though Congress and BJP have also fielded their candidates, it will be only for 'namesake' as both parties lack required numbers to win the election. Both BJP and Congress stand no where near to TRS in having votes of elected representatives of local bodies.
