With the University Grants Commission releasing new guidelines on Monday, July 6, 2020 directing all the universities in the country to conduct final semester exams for undergraduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) courses by September end, the state governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have decided not to postpone these exams as proposed earlier.
The vice chancellors of all universities in AP and TS have recommended cancellation of UG, PG exams for this year in the wake of corona pandemic. They recommended promoting all students based on their performance in previous semesters and internal assessments without conduting exams.
These recommendations are currently pending with the Chief Ministers of AP, TS, YS Jagan and KCR for final decision.
Now that UGC directed all universities to conduct exams by September end, the recommendations of VCs in AP and TS became irrelevant.
TS and AP governments asked all universities to make arrangements accordingly to conduct UG, PG final semester exams by August/ September-end as asked by UGC.
However, both TS and AP governments will conduct exams only for final semester students.
No exams will be conducted for other semester students and they will be promoted to next semester based on their performance in previous semesters and internal assessments.
A final decision on UG, PG semester exams and schedule in AP and TS will be announced in a day or two.
