Vijayawada lockdown announced from June 26, withdrawn, East Godavari lockdown from June 25

The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 has decided to reimpose total lockdown in Vijayawada for a period of one week from June 26 in the wake of surging coronavirus cases in Guntur district. The decision was taken to check the spread of coronavirus further. However, within hours the government issued revised orders withdrawing lockdown in Vijayawada without citing any reasons.

The lockdown orders were issued by Krishna district collector AMK Imtiaz, created a sensation.

However, within an hour collector issued revised orders withdrawing lockdown decision saying that "fresh orders would be issued in this regard.

In a related development, the government has also decided to reimpose total lockdown in East Godavari district from June 25 from 11 am.

People in East Godavari district will be allowed to come outside from homes only from 6 am to 11 am to procure essentials. Everything will be remain shut. Entry and exit points into the district will be closed until further orders.
