RTC city buses to ply on Hyderabad roads from June 8

Telangana state government is gearing up to start city bus services in Hyderabad and also begin inter-state bus services from June 8.

The Centre had recently announced "Unlock 1.0" to ease lockdown across the country and as part of it the Centre had allowed states to take decision on resuming bus services after June 7.

The Centre asked state to continue present lockdown till June 7 with certain relaxations and also asked states to open up more sectors for public from June 8.

The Telangana government has decided to adopt Centre's Unlock 1.0 guidelines as it is from June 8.

Telangana transport minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar on June 3 reviewed the operation of

city buses and inter-state bus services as the Centre eased curbs on lockdown.

The review meeting discussed modalities of operation of various bus services.

All government and private offices in Hyderabad have resumed their work. The commuters are facing lot of inconvenience for want of city bus services.

Daily, at least 33 lakh persons travel by city buses in Hyderabad. The people are not keen on

travelling by share autorickshaws fearing coronavirus as they are unsafe.

This has resulted in increase in traffic on city roads with people forced to travel by personal vehicles due to lack of public transportation services.
