The Telangana state government is learnt to have conveyed to the Central government that it cannot hold NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 in Telangana scheduled in July due to increase in corona cases in the state especially in Hyderabad, where NEET and JEE Main Centres are located.
The Telangana state government on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 announced to postpone all the Common Entrance Tests (CETs 2020) scheduled in July including Eamcet, Icet, Edcet etc in the wake of corona pandemic.
In this bacdrop, the Telangana government wanted Centre to postpone NEET, JEE Main scheduled in July.
JEE Main is scheduled to be held from July 18 to 23, while NEET is scheduled for July 26.
The TS government is planning to reimpose lockdown in Hyderabad in July for a period of 15 days and in this backdrop it said it cannot hold NEET and JEE Main in July. The State cabinet will meet in a day or two to decide on reimposing lockdown in Hyderabad to check spread of coronavirus.
