The Telangana State National Students Union of India (NSUI) has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in Telangana High Court on Monday, June 29, 2020 seeking postponement all the common entrance tests (CETs) to be conducted by the state government including Eamcet, Icet, Edcet etc.
Mohammed Sohail Uddin, the general secretary of NSUI’s Telangana unit, said, “All educational institutions were closed from 22 March in view of the lockdown. Every day the number of positive cases is increasing in the state, especially in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits and also other districts. This has caused the students mental stress and they are not prepared to write the exams under such circumstances."
He further adds, "Many students will have to travel back to Hyderabad from not only other districts, but even other Indian states. This can be very risky, given the current situation. For this reason, we have filed a PIL in the High Court. I hope the High Court postpones all the entrance examinations."
