PG final semester exams: University of Hyderabad: TRS seeks postponement of exams

TRS senior leader, vice chairman of Telangana State Planning Board and Karimnagar former Lok Sabha member B Vinod Kumar today, September 15, 2020, Tuesday, sought postponement of PG final semester exams of University of Hyderabad to avoid clash with UG/ PG final semester/ year exams of State Universities in Telangana in September/October 2020 and also to avoid clash with UGC NET 2020 in September 2020.

Vinod Kumar has written a letter to UoH VC Appa Rao in this regard. Below is the text of the letter:

Dated: 15th Sept. 2020

Dear Prof.Appa Rao garu,

As you are aware, a large number of Degree and PG students of all the Telangana State Universities are appearing for the end- semester / final year examinations scheduled to be held from Sept. 22nd to 13th October 2020 (Copy enclosed).  Many students who are aspiring for seeking admission into University of Hyderabad are from Telangana region.  Any move to conduct entrance examinations of the University of Hyderabad on these days will adversely impact the careers of students in general and Telangana  in particular.

I received several representations stating that the University of Hyderabad is planning to conduct Entrance examinations during 24th to 26th, September, 2020.  Similarly, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is also conducting UGC NET examinations from  September,24 2020 onwards. Therefore conducting entrance exams on same dates will impact MPhil & Phd applicants also. (Copy of the Schedule announced by University is enclosed)

You are also well aware of the fact that the University of Hyderabad has been established after a long drawn struggle for a separate Telangana movement and as part of the Six point formula and Article 371 (D).  The University has to keep the interests and avenues of the Telangana students whenever the entrance examinations are planned in future also.  Any attempt to curtail the future prospects of the students of Telangana will not be acceptable and shall be viewed seriously by the policy makers, stakeholders and intellectuals from Telangana.

I therefore request you to reschedule your plans to conduct entrance examinations for P.G. and M.Phil / PhD admissions, as during these dates Degree examinations are being conducted by the different Universities of Telangana and conflicting with the same dates, hence a fresh schedule may be issued, at the earliest

With regards,

                                                                                       Yours sincerely,

                                                                                                (B.VINOD KUMAR)
