After the arrest of senior TDP leaders K Achannaidu and JC Prabhakar Reddy in Andhra Pradesh recently, one more TDP leader was arrested on Saturday, July 4, 2020.
TDP leader and former minister in previous TDP government, Kollu Ravindra was arrested by AP police in connection with a recent murder of ruling YSRCP leader.
Ravindra was heading towards Visakhapatnam in a car when he was intercepted by police in Tuni in East Godavari district. He was arrested and brought to Vijayawada.
Police claimed that he was arrested for his alleged role in the murder of YSRCP leader M Bhaskar Rao, who is known to be the close aide of YSRCP leader and AP transport minister Perni Venkataramaiah.
It may be recalled that Bhaskar Rao, who was the former chairman of Machilipatnam market yard, was brutally stabbed to death by four unidentified persons in broad day light in a fish market in Machilipatnam on June 29, 2020.
Bhaskar Rao's wife complained to police that Kollu Ravindra was the mastermind behind her husband's murder and demanded his arrest.
The police registered the case and arrested him today.
Kollu Ravindra's arrest took 'political colour' with Oppostion TDP accusing Jagan government of indulging in vendetta politics against TDP leaders.
TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu condemned the arrest and alleged that CM Jagan was adopting vengeful attitude towards TDP leaders hailing from backward classes.
