Telangana labour minister Chamakura Malla Reddy's nephew Raghu was booked by Banjara Hills police on Sunday, July 5, 2020 for organsing a rave party at Park Hyatt Hotel in Hyderabad to celebrate his birthday and for violating lockdown rules.
The police busted a gang of eight persons who took part in the party.
The birthday party for Raghu, the nephew of Malla Reddy, was arranged by the organiser of Dot Pub in Jubilee Hills, Santhosh Reddy, at Park Hyatt in Banjara Hills.
Following a tip-off, the Banjara Hills Police raided the hotel on late Saturday night and eight persons were detained. The police arrested four men, Raghu, Bhanu Kiran, Vijay and Ramarao, and four women, reportedly Ukraine nationals, during the raid.
Police said the accused had booked a one bedroom single apartment at the hotel to organise a birthday party. No drugs were found. Only some liquor bottles were seized from the place.
Police have registered a case against the gang for organising a party and breaking lockdown norms.
Malla Reddy owns a chain of professional colleges, including Engineering, Pharmacy, medical, dental, management colleges in the name of Malla Reddy group, CMR group etc in Hyderbad.
He entered politics in 2014, won as Malkajgiri Lok Sabha member from TDP in 2014, later defected to ruling TRS, won as Medchal MLA in 2018 and became labour miniser in KCR's government in 2019.
