When Telangana Election Commission issued GHMC poll notification today, Tuesday, November 17, 2020 and announced that polling will be held on December 1, 2020, it led to intense debate in political circles over why KCR took sudden and surprise decision to hold GHMC polls in December, when the present GHCM Council term will end on February 10, 2021.
By advancing GHMC polls by nearly three months. KCR gave a clear message that he is afraid of BJP due to recent Dubbak Assembly bypoll defeat in the hands of BJP.
KCR became more worried after Dubbak defeat and feared that BJP will become more stronger if he waits till February 2021 to hold GHMC polls.
To avoid this situation, KCR declared GHMC polls all of a sudden and decided to complete entire election process in just 19 days starting today.
By doing this, KCR believes that BJP will not get any time to devise strategies to beat TRS and BJP will find not even adequate time to find strong candidates against TRS in GHMC polls.
KCR believes that BJP will struggle with no time as there is just 15 days time left for polling.
He also believes that BJP will have no time to campaign against TRS and will also have no time to lure TRS leaders and cadre into its fold.
All these reasons prompted KCR to declare sudden polls for GHMC within a short span.
