The UMHRD minister Ramesh Pokhiriyal is holding an emergency meeting today, August 21, 2020, Friday, with officials of NTA, CBSE, NITs and IITs in New Delhi to take a decision on postponing JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020.
The meeting follows after there is severe outrage and anger from lakhs of students and parents across the country after Supreme Court refused to postpone the exams recently and the Central government going ahead with conducting exams in September as scheduled.
Students and parents are expressing ire at the Central government as well as Supreme Court on various social media platforms.
Bowin to pressure from students and parents, the UMHRD minister has decided to hold an emergency meeting today to discuss and take a decision on postponement of exams.
The news about emergency meeting was revealed by none other than BJP MP Subramanian Swamy through his Twitter account.
Swamy today tweeted, "I have already tweeted as well as conveyed to Education Minister that JEE Main, NEET exams should be after Deepavali. Minister is holding an emergency meeting. Let us see. I was asked to intervene by you all at a very late stage after SC had delivered its judgment."
