Ignoring the severe protests from lakhs of students and parents across India for the past few days demanding postponement of JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020, the Central government late on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, decided to go ahead with the exams as scheduled in September.
Accordingly, the National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts JEE Main and NEET issued an official press release in this regard late on August 25, 2020, announcing its decision to conduct NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 as scheduled.
Students and parents across India took to social media to press their demand for postponement for the past few days besides sitting on hunger strike for a day on Sunday, August 23, 2020.
Hashtags were created on Twitter requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy to postpone exams. These hastags are trending at No.1 spot with millions of tweets demanding postponement of exams.
However, all these attempts fell on the deaf ears of Central government.
