JEE Main 2021: "Second Covid wave" threat to delay exam

The threat of Second Covid wave across India from December 2020 is likely to delay the conduct of JEE Main 2021.

As per the original schedule, the first session of JEE Main 2021 for engineering (B.Tech, B.Arch) admissions across India should be conducted in January 2021.

However, the increase in corona cases in few States and health experts warning 'second covid wave' acoss India in December 2020, January 2021 and February 2021, during winter when there will be chilly weather, has raised doubts over conducting JEE Main in January 2021.

Official sources said the JEE Main 2021 first session will be conducted in February or March 2021 depending on the corona situation prevailing in the country at that time.

Normally, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE Main in January and April every year but the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the academic schedule across boards this year.

The JEE Main is the admission test for IIITs, NITs and GFTIs across the country. It is also the qualifying exam for the IIT admission test -- JEE Advanced. This year, the April session of JEE Main was postponed twice due to lockdown and corona cases and held finally in September, following government guidelines, despite protests from students and parents and several cases filed in Supreme Court against holding these exams in corona conditions.
