In a shocking incident in Hyderabad, a driver of a water tanker belonging to Telangana state government's Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), was found washing his feet with the drinking water that was being filled directly in the water tanker later.
One unknown person recorded this shocking video and posted on social media.
The video clipping soon became viral creating panic and anger among people and officials in Hyderabad.
The HMWSSB officials immediately lodged a complaint with the Kukatpally police, who booked a case against the driver Vijay and tank owner on Saturday, July 4, 2020.
According to a press release issued by the HMWSSB, the incident occurred on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at a water filling station in Moosapet. Officials assured that such incidents would not be repeated and clean drinking water would be served to all its customers.
HMWSSB also said that they were incorporating technology for automatic filling of water tankers so as to avoid such incidents. A device based on the latest technology, called actuator, has been installed at the Jubilee Hills filling station. Based on the concept of Internet of Things, the device is controlled by sensors, thereby minimising human intervention. Very soon, this technology would be installed at all filling stations under the water board, said HMWSSB officials to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
