GHMC Polls: Will Chandrababu's "TDP silent strategy" pays off?

TDP supremo and former AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who claims to have developed Hyderabad as an "IT hub", built Cyberabad and make Hyderabad a 'global city' during his tenure as CM of Undivided AP between 1995 and 2004, is maintaining complete silence over GHMC polls in Hyderabad.

TDP insiders says Naidu has devised a special "TDP strategy' for GHMC polls to be held on December 1, 2020.

This strategy is 'silent strategy' wherein Chandrababu, Lokesh or no other major TDP leaders from Seemandhra region will campaign in GHMC elections.

The TDP silently fielded 106 candidates out of total 150 seats in GHMC elections.

Naidu is adopting this 'silent strategy' keeping in view the bad experience of 2018 December Telangana Assembly polls, in which TDP was routed by TRS.

Chandrababu campaigned extensively in Hyderabad and Telangana for 'grand alliance' in which TDP was a part along with Congress, TJS and Left Parties.

TRS chief and Telangana CM KCR exploited this and ripped up regional passions saying that Chandrababu has hatched a conspiracy to rule Telangana again under the guise of grand alliance and provoked Telangana people against grand alliance.

KCR's strategy paid off and grand alliance suffered big defeat at the hands of TRS.

Keeping this in view, Chandrababu did not go for any alliance in GHMC polls this time.

He silently fielded 106 candidates and did not campaign at all.

On the last day of GHMC poll campaigning, Naidu just made a tweet seeking votes for TDP saying that it's TDP which made Hyderabad a global city, IT hub and built Cyberabad etc.

Naidu sought voter's support for TDP in GHMC elections based on how he developed Hyderabad when he was CM between 1995 and 2004. Naidu attached a picture of Hitech City on Twitter, which he created and invited then US President Bill Clinton, Bill Gates to put Hyderabad on IT global map.

It remains to be seen whether Naidu's 'silent strategy' works out this time in GHMC polls.
