Telagana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday, June 28, 2020 announced that he will take a decision on reimposing total lockdown in GHMC limits (Hyderabad) in the next 3 to 4 days to check the spread of coronavirus in the wake of steep increase in corona positive cases in GHMC limits since June 1 after lockdown curbs were relaxed.
Hyderabad has been witnessing over 800 corona cases per day for the past one week creating panic among people and government.
CM KCR said that the health department had sought reimposition of lockdown in GHMC limits for 15 days.
If that happens, there will be total lockdown in state for 15 days.
Assuming that KCR decides to reimpose lockdown from July 5, it will be in force till July 20. If again extended, lockdown may stretch till July end.
Even if lockdown is not extended after July 20 and is enforced only till July 20, the state government will have to either postpone or cancel Common Entrance Tests (CETs) like Eamcet, Icet, Edcet etc.
This is because several CETs are scheduled in July.
Polycet is scheduled on July 1, PGECET from July 1 to 3, ECET on July 4, Eamcet from July 6 to 9, Lawcet, PGLCET on July 10, ICET on July 13, Edcet on July 15, PECET on July 15.
The CETS are already delayed by two months. Further postponement may not be possible in July. The government will be forced to cancel the CETs are come out with a new admissions policy for professional courses for 2020-21 academic year.
