Dubbaka bypoll: BJP wants to challenge TRS with Reddy Versus Velama fight

The schedule for Dubbaka Assembly bypoll is expected to be announced on September 29, 2020.

TRS is planning to field the wife of Dubbaka MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy, whose untimely death last month, led to bypoll

TRS chief KCR and working president KTR has entrusted the responsibility of ensuing TRS victory in the bypolls to senior party leader and finance minister T Harish Rao.

Harish Rao is extensively campaigning in the constituency for the past two weeks though election notification is yet to be released.

Dubbaka falls under Undivided Medak district, which is politically dominated by Velama caste, though the percentage of Velama population is very less.

CM KCR, Harish Rao belong to Velama community representing Medak district.

However, this time, the Velama community reportedly wants a Velama to be elected as MLA from Dubbaka and not from Reddy community.

TRS is fielding wife of late MLA, who is a Reddy.

The BJP is trying to exploit this situation to their advantage and is planning to field M Raghunandan Rao, who comes from Velama community.

Interestingly, BJP fielded Raghunandan Rao from Medak Lok Sabha seat in May 2019. But he lost to TRS.

Now Velama community in Medak wants to send Velama MLA to Telangana Assembly by ensuring the victory of Raghunandan Rao from Dubbaka. The Velama community wants one of their MLAs to represent BJP in Assembly since Velama rulers are already ruling Telangana in the form of TRS and as such there is no need for one more Velama MLA for TRS.

It is learnt that Harish is trying his best to convince Velama community to look at TRS and ensure TRS candidate victory and not look at caste in Dubbaka bypoll.

It remains to be seen whether TRS can convince Velama community against Raghunandan Rao and in favour of Reddy candidate.
