The demand for postponing UGC-NET exams in October came to the fore.
This demand was made by West Bengal State government.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and education minister Partha Chatterjee demanded NTA to postpone exams that were scheduled during Durga Puja in October.
Durga puja is the biggest festival in Bengal.
UGC-NET exams were scheduled in phases from September 24 to November 5 ,2020 across India.

The five day Durga puja will start on October 22.
The UGC National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) determines the eligibility for the post of assistant professor and junior research fellowship in the universities and colleges across India.
