The Karnataka High Court is expected to deliver its judgement of COMEDK 2020 exam on August 14 or August 17, 2020.
A petition was filed in the High Court seeking postponement of COMEDK, scheduled to be held on August 19, 2020.
Students and parents are opposing holding COMEDK on August 19 in the wake of corona pandemic and demanding postponement of the exam.
The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) conducts the COMEDK exam for admissions into private medical, engineering and dental colleges in Karnataka.
Besides local Karnataka students, thousands of students from neighbouring states such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana appear for COMEKD every year.
The petition for COMEDK exam has been filed by Advocate Abdulla Mannan Khan, The plea mentions that there no "immediate urgency" to conduct the COMEDK exam as "it will not have any effect on the students' academic future". Moreover, the petition also mentions Article 21 of the Constitution ensures one's right to life.
The verdict will be released by Justices BV Nagarathna and Ravi Hosmani on either August 14 or August 17.
