CBSE exams cancellation decision on June 25: Central Govt, CBSE tells Supreme Court

The Central Government and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, told Supreme Court that they will take a decision on conducting or cancelling remaining Class X and Class XII examinations by Thursday, June 25, 2020.

“The decision making process is at an advance stage and would be finalised by Thursday,” the Solicitor General, appearing for the Central government and the CBSE, said on Tuesday.

Later, the Supreme Court posted the case for next hearing to 2 pm on June 25, 2020.

Last week, the CBSE had told the Supreme Court that it would take a decision “very shortly” on remaining papers of CBSE Class X and Class XII exams after a group of parents sought cancellation of the remaining class X and XII exams scheduled from July 1 to 15.

They demanded that the students be awarded marks based on an internal assessment or in line with marks allotted for practical exams keeping in view the rising corona cases across the country and keeping in view the safety of students.
