CBSE compartment exams: Students file petition in Supreme Court

CBSE Class X and Class XII students, who were placed in 'compartment category' in the CBSE results 2020 announced in July, have filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of compartment exams and declare them as passed without conducting exams.

This year, the CBSE has placed 1,50,198 Class X students and 87,651 Class XII students in 'compartment category'. These students have to appear for compartment exams to clear the backlogs and get pass certificates.

However, students moved Supreme Court arguing that the lives of students will be at risk if exams are held in the present corona pandemic conditions.

They brought to the notice of Supreme Court that the state governments of Telangana State and Bihar have declared all their Class X and Class XII students as passed without conducting exams due to corona pandemic and the CBSE Board should also adopt this policy.

The Supreme Court is expected to hear this case in a couple of days.
