Students who pass in CBSE compartment exams will be given a 'special chance' by the UGC to get admissions in under graduate (UG) courses offered by various universities across India.
The CBSE compartment exams for Class X and Class XII students started on September 22, 2020 and ends on September 29, 2020.
However, CBSE compartment students complained that there is no use even if they pass compartment exams because the deadline for admissions for UG courses as per UGC directions is October 31, 2020 and the admissions in UG courses will be finished by the time the CBSE Board declares compartment exam results.
Normally, CBSE board takes over a month's time to declare compartment results. This time, over 2 lakh students are appearing for compartment exams.
The Supreme Court directed CBSE and UGC to ensure that the career and future of compartment students should be protected. It asked CBSE to release compartment results fast and also asked UGC to extend the deadline till November first week.
The Supreme Court directed CBSE and UGC to file an affidavit in this regard and said it will hear the case again tomorrow, September 24, 2020, Thursday.
Following this, UGC is planning to extend the deadline for UG admissions till November first week, 2020.
