CBSE Class X Results: 87K 'failed' students placed in 'compartment', no toppers list for first time!
As many as 87,651 students who were failed in CBSE Class X results announced today July 15, 2020, were placed under 'compartment category', amounting to 7.35% of total students who appeared for exams this year.
Last year, 99,207 students were placed under compartment category, which has come down to 87,651 this year.
However, for the first time, the CBSE has not declared them as 'fail'.
Instead, it replaced 'fail' term with 'essential repeat' term.
In the marksheets being issued to students, there will be no 'fail' this year.
These students have to appear for compartment exams. However, the CBSE said the schedule for compartment exams will be released later.
The board has also said that it will conduct an option exam in the subjects whose examinations scheduled to be conducted from July 1 to July 15, 2020 as soon as conditions are conducive as assessed and decided by the Central Government.
For the first time, the CBSE Board did not release topper's list for Class X exams this year.. CBSE board toppers are known for their superb performance. The board toppers for last two years had scored 99.8 per cent marks. Interestingly, Board toppers in last three years were from Arts stream.
