In line with cancellation of Class X, Class XII state board exams in various states by state governments, the Central Government too is planning to cancel the remaining exams of CBSE Class X and Class XII board exams for this year.
The union ministry of human resources development already held meetings with union home ministry and union health ministry last week to discuss on the issue. In the meetings, there was a consensus on cancelling CBSE Class X and Class XII exams for remaining papers keeping in view the safety of students in the wake of rapid increase in coronavirus positive cases across the country.
Several state governments have already expressed their inability to conduct CBSE exams due to prevailing corona situation.
In this backdrop, the union ministry of HRD Ramesh Pokhriyal is expected to make an announcement on cancellation of CBSE Class X and Class XII exams in a day or two. An announcement in this regard is expected today (Monday, June 22, 2020) any time.
It is understood that CBSE Class X, Class XII students will be awarded marks and grades for cancelled exam papers based on their average performance in papers for which exams were already held besides their performance in internal assessment exams.
States like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Punjab etc have already cancelled their respective Class X, XII state board exams due to corona situation.
