Telangana Chief Minister K ChandrasekharRao had recently issued a statement that he will fight tooth and nail against the Centre's Electricity Amendment Bill 2020. KCR came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a press conference at Pragathi Bhavan recently. KCR alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was trying to take control of entire power sector in the country and usurp the powers of state governments on electricity sector. KCR said he will personally lead the agitation against the amendment bill.
However, questions are now being raised whether KCR has guts to confront Modi on this issue. Because in the past KCR made several such statements which never materialised. Back in 2016, KCR announced that he will protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to protest against the delay in bifurcation of High Court by Modi government. But this never happened.
Later, KCR made several statements on taking up agitation programmes against Modi government for ignoring the Telangana Reservations Act passed by TS Legislative Assembly in 2017 increasing reservations for Muslims and STs. The Modi government is yet to approve the Act. But KCR never protested on this issue till date.
KCR also warned of filing cases in Supreme Court against Modi government on reservations issue which too did not happen. Taking all the past experiences into consideration, no one seem to be taking KCR's recent comments against Modi on electricity amendment bill.
