The results were supposed to be announced by 7am today.

However, due to some technical glitches are results will be delayed by three more hours.

Students have to wait till 10 am today to know their results.

The JEE Main was held from September 1 to 6. Over 8.58 lakh candidates had registered for the exams but given the COVID-19 pandemic and floods, around 6.35 lakh -- under 75% -- finally wrote the exam. Conducted twice a year, the first JEE Main was held in January 2020. The second JEE Main 2020 to be held in April 2020, was rescheduled multiple times due to the coronavirus outbreak and finally held in September 2020.

In JEE Main, BTech candidates are scored out of 300 and the BArch candidates, out of 400. But their marks are normalised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to achieve a percentile score. A candidate’s JEE Main result shows how many have scored equal to or below them in the exam.

JEE Main scores are used for admission to the 31 National Institutes of Technology (NIT), 25 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), engineering programmes in 28 centrally-funded technical institutions (CFTIs) and serve as a preliminary round of tests for entry into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). However, it is the entrance test for engineering programmes for several States and Union Territories.

After the JEE Main Result 2020 and JEE Advanced results are out, the Joints Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct counselling for students to assign seats. This year, counselling will be only online and is expected in October 2020.
